Fred Meijer Heartland Trail

Project Details

LSE performed design and construction engineering services for this non-motorized path project in Gratiot County.  The project included 9.70 miles of HMA path paving, grading, aggregate base, and the rehabilitation of three railroad bridge structures from the village of Riverdale to the city of Alma.  This project linked the existing Fred Meijer Heartland Trail from the city of Sheridan to the city of Greenville in Montcalm County.

This non-motorized path crossed many local county roads, ran adjacent to an active railroad, and included sidewalk widenings in the city of Alma, Alma College, the railroad, and many landowners along this trail which were key to the successful completion of this project.
